SINGAPORE – At the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), the pressure to fight Covid-19 continued earlier this year when much of the public had grown tired of pandemic restrictions and having to watch out for an invisible enemy.

At the same time, it had to deal with the dengue outbreak. More than 25,500 cases have been recorded since the start of the year, compared with 5,258 for the whole of last year.
